2P-35 : Synthesis and characterization of GAP-triazole copolymers

The GAP copolymers based on 1,2,3,-triazole (poly(GA-1,2,3,-triazole)) were synthesized by single step reaction with GAP and alkyl propargyl ether such as octyl propargyl ether and decyl propargyl ether in DMSO. The synthesized compounds and GAP were characterized by various analysis tools such as IR, inverse gated decoupling 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance, 1H-NMR, GPC, TGA, DSC and calorimetry. These poly(GA-1,2,3-triazole) compounds have better thermal properties owing to their higher thermal decomposition temperature in poly (GA-1,2,3-triazole) compounds, compared to GAP and similar glass transition temperature to GAP regardless of the introduction of 1,2,3-triazole in GAP. Moreover, poly(GA-1,2,3-triazole) compounds have higher heats of combustion and negative formation enthalpies, while GAP has lower heat of combustion. Therefore, poly(GA-1,2,3- triazole) compounds could be a polymeric binder with good properties in solid propellants.
