Expression and significance of guanylyl cyclase C and guanylin mRNA in human gastric cancer

2012
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of guanylyl cyclase C mRNA(GC-C mRNA) and guanylin mRNA(GN mRNA) in human gastric cancer. Methods The expressions of GC-C mRNA and GN mRNA were detected with real time PCR in 60 gastric cancer samples(group A) and 30 matched tumor-adjacent normal gastric mucosa tissues(group B).ResultsThe expressions of GC-C mRNA and GN mRNA in group A were 40.95±25.20 and 36.95±21.66,repectively,which were not expressed in group B.The expressions of GC-C mRNA and GN mRNA were more in the intestinal-type gastric cancer than those in the diffuse-type(P0.01).The expressions of GC-C mRNA and GN mRNA were not correlated with age, sex, tumor size, clinical stages, tumor differentiation degree, lymph node metastasis and Borrmann typing(P0.05).The expression of GC-C mRNA was positively correlated with that of GN mRNA in gastric cancer(P0.01).Conclusion Abnormal expressions of GC-C mRNA and GN mRNA in human gastric mucosa may play an important role in the carcinogenesis, particulally for the intestinal-type gastric carcinoma.
