Photochemical modification of poly(p-xylylene)

1997
UV irradiation of poly(p-xylylene) at 77 K initiates dehydrogenation of CH 2 -CH 2 bridges, and distyrylbenzene fragments are formed in the polymer. The photochemically modified polymer gains the ability to fluoresce at 400-500 nm.
