THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTORRECEPTORS AND ESTROGEN RECEPTORS STATUS AND PROGNOSIS

1995
Epidermal growth factor receptors(EGFR)were immunohistoche-mically presented in 89 cases of breast carcinomas. The EGFR stats was correlatedwith the estrogen receptor(ER)status and DNA content by flow cytometry. The resultsshowed that 39.3%of carcinomas were positive for EGFR. Thirty-one of the 35 tumorspositive for EGFR were negative for ER and 42 of 46 tumor:positive for ER were nega-tive for EGFR. There was a significant negative correlation between the presence ofthese two receptors (P0.01);The EGFR-positive number of the aneuploid group was higher than that of the diploid group (P0.01).There was no significant correlation bet-ween EGFR -positivity metastatic lymph modes status and tumor size(P0.01)EGFRmight be considered to be a good prognostic indicator when it was correlated with clini-cally follw-up data.
