Characterization of Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain ATV isolated from a grapevine tumor

1985
Summary Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain ATV has been isolated from a grapevine tumor in Toledo (Spain). It belongs to biotype 1 of Keane et al. (1970) and it can utilize nopaline as sole carbon and nitrogen source. ATV strain carries a 113-Mdal plasmid (pTiATV) sharing a high degree of homology with the standard nopaline type plasmid pTiC58, as deduced from Southern type hybridizations. Electron micrographs of heteroduplexes between pTiATV and clones pGV0342 and pGV0415, containing the T-region of pTiC58, show that there are no internal non-homologous regions. An IR sequence has been detected and tentatively mapped.
