espanolSe utilizo el modelo de investigacion accion participante para ser aprehendido por la comunidad Los Maleteros, con la finalidad de crear conciencia sobre la conservacion de su entorno ambiental a traves de la participacion comunitaria. Amerito jerarquizacion de los problemas, asignacion de responsabilidades, realizacion de actividades conjuntas, motivacion constante y estrategias multiples. Se utilizaron encuestas sobre actitudes y costumbres acerca de higiene de la basura y saneamiento del ambiente. Entrevistas para valores, principios, premisas sobre lo que basan su comportamiento. Organizacion de la comunidad para gerenciar las actividades de compra y comercializacion de los desechos de vidrio. Indicadores analiticos: productividad, participacion comunitaria; estructurales: historicos, geograficos, culturales. Las estrategias: reuniones, visitas, formacion de grupos (juegos, estudio, trabajo), asignacion de responsabilidades organizativas y gerenciales. Los resultados muestran la conformacion de las comunidades urbanas pobres, invasiones de propiedad privada, urbanizaciones de interes social, falta de formacion educativa, desempleo, ignorancia, rentismo y paternalismo de Estado. Rezago de valores primigenios, necesidades basicas insatisfechas que los obligan a adoptar valores de la cultura de la pobreza, con escasa participacion comunitaria. El logro, el rescate de valores que permitio motivarlos en sus intereses para integrarlos al trabajo de una microempresa de reciclaje de vidrio (Microrevi), asumiendo la gerencia al ser estimulados con formacion educativa y trabajo productivo. Mejoraron la participacion de 14,25% en las primeras dos jornadas a 21,83 % en la tercera e incrementaron la recoleccion de 1,74 Kg/Flia a 2,63 Kg/ Flia en la tercera jornada. EnglishA community-based participatory action research model was used to raise awareness of environmental conservation in a local community, Los Maleteros. Needs were prioritized, specific responsibilities assigned and joint projects conducted using constant motivation and multiple strategies. The strategies included town meetings, site visits, small play, study and work group development and assignment of specific organizational and administrative responsibilities. Surveys on attitudes and behaviors were conducted on waste disposal and environmental remediation activities. lnterviews were used to gather information regarding values, principles and premises on which behaviors were based. Community members were organized to oversee the purchasing and commercial distribution of recycled glass products. Variables analyzed included productivity, degree of community participation, and structural constructs based on historical, geograpbic and cultural scales. The baseline assessment revealed an impoverished urban community, with invasion of private property and subsidized housing, that was generally undereducated, unemployed, largely ignorant of these issues, and with evidence of state patemalism. Fundamental values were neglected due to the inability to satisfy basic needs, leading the community to adopt values based on a culture of poverty, with low levels of community participation. Through education and offers of meaningful employment, a sense of productivity was reestablished and individual interest was stimulated enough for participants to become integrated into the work and administration of a small-scale glass recycling company. Community participation improved from 14.25% in the two initial workshops to 21.83% in the third workshop. Collection of recyclable materials increased from 1.74 kg to 2.63 kg per family unit.
