Magnetic Phase Diagram of (Pr1-xCex)Ru4P12

2011
The effect of Ce substitution on the filled skutterudite compound PrRu 4 P 12 , which shows an exotic metal–insulator (M–I) transition at 63 K, is studied by electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and magnetization measurements. A small amount of Ce substitution causes a suppression of the semiconductor-like behavior at low temperature. The M–I transition markedly shifts to lower temperature (42 K) by Ce 15% substitution. Furthermore, an antiferromagnetic-like phase emerges at low temperature coexisting with the M–I transition and a reentrant behavior of resistivity is observed for (Pr 0.9 Ce 0.1 )Ru 4 P 12 . The temperature-Ce concentration phase diagram of (Pr 1- x Ce x )Ru 4 P 12 (0 ≤ x ≤0.15) is presented.
