An Electromagnetically Adjustable Secondary-Controlled Hydraulic Drive with a Fuzzy-Controller

In the use of modern drive systems the demands for attainable dynamics and for universal application have increased. Due to interface problems, disadvantages in respect to efficiency and to simplicity of technology in comparison with electrical drives, however, the secondary-controlled hydraulic drive systems are only used in a few specialized applications. As a result of experimental investigations and simulations, an electromagnetic linear motor was selected as an altemative actuator for adjusting the the motor piston stroke. The adaptive control is realized by the use of Fuzzy-logic. The basic idea aims at the systematic adaptation of the parameters of standard PID controllers. This paper demonstrates the advantages of coupling a hydraulic unit with the electromagnetic adjustment of the piston stroke and of its adaptive controllers. The competitiveness of hydraulic drives in comparision with conventional systems can thus be improved.
