| Lesão periférica de células gigantes tratada por cirurgia convencional e cauterização do leito cirúrgico: relato de caso

2009
Introduction: peripheral giant cell lesion (PGCL) is a disease of the oral cavity characterized by a benign hyperplastic growth of unknown etiology, although it is associated with trauma or local irritant agents. Purpose: to show, through the presentation of a clinical case, that a meticulous surgical excision of PGCL and the remotion of etiologic factor results in no postoperative recurrences. Clinical case: this report presents a case of PGCL treated by conventional surgery and cauterization of the subjacent tissue, in a female patient, caucasian, 31 years old, possibly caused by prosthetic trauma. Final considerations: in the presented case, the correct diagnosis associated with a thorough treatment with surgical removal and traumatic factor enabled the restoration of the patient's oral health.
