History of the Yeni Moda Pharmacy - Yeni Moda Eczanesi’nin Tarihi

The “Yeni Moda” Pharmacy is one of the historical pharmacies of Istanbul. It was established in 1902. Second generation owner of the pharmacy, Melih Ziya Sezer was head of the Istanbul Chamber of Pharmacists between 1972 and 1978. His father Halil Bey took over this historical pharmacy in 1937. Currently Melih Bey is working alone in the pharmacy. Many visitors, colleagues, neighbors and students are welcomed by Melih Ziya Bey and many articles were written in newspapers and health magazines, as a pecious pharmacy history of Istanbul. The method of this research is “oral history”. The findings will be presented in terms of speeches and videos. Melih Ziya Sezer’s stories about the pharmacy, pharmaceutical services and health life in the previous century will be narrated. Modern life’s effects on pharmacy’s and pharmacists’ life will be discussed. Ozet "Yeni Moda Eczanesi” Istanbul'un tarihi eczanelerinden biridir. 1902 yilinda kurulmustur. Babasi Halil Bey’in 1937 yilinda devraldigi eczanenin, bugunku ikinci kusak sahibi Melih Ziya Sezer’dir. Melih Bey, 1972-1978 yillari arasinda Istanbul Eczaci Odasi baskanligi yapmis, meslek uzerinde emegi buyuk olan eczacilarimizdan biridir. Melih Bey eczanede yardimcisi olmadan, tek basina hizmet vermektedir. Melih Bey eczanesinde, bircok ogrenci ve meslektasini agirlamaktadir. Gazetelerde ve saglik dergilerinde Istanbul’un tarihi degerlerinden biri olan “Yeni Moda Eczanesi” ile ilgili olarak bircok makale yazilmistir. Arastirmada "sozlu tarih" metodundan yararlanilmistir. Arastirma sonucunda elde edilen bilgiler; konusma ve video olarak sunulacaktir. Melih Ziya Sezer’in gectigimiz yuzyilda eczane, eczacilik hizmetleri ve saglik yasami hakkinda anlattigi hikâyeler aktarilacaktir. Modern yasantinin, eczaneye ve eczacilara etkisi ele alinmaya calisilacaktir.
