Fluctuation-induced interaction of domain walls

1994
Abstract We argue that any commensurate-incommensurate phase transition in a crystalline media is discontinuous due to power-law attraction of the domain walls. The main origin of this attraction are the thermal fluctuations of the walls which are always accompanied, in a crystal, by at least one of the long-range fields: electric, magnetic, elastic.
