Early detection of inundation risks with emphasis on aerial remote sensing and underwater inspection
1990
The application of aerial and acoustic remote sensing techniques is presented as an efficient and cost-effective tool for the early detection of dike defects. Differential thermal mapping using airborne digital multispectral scanner recordings allows the recognition of the irregularities in soil moisture content, that are due to dike seepage. The condition of the underwater part of a dike is most readily evaluated on sidescan sonar recordings
