Prolonged Survival After Kidney Transplantation: Report of a Case Five Years After Transplantation From an Unrelated Donor

The recipient of a kidney transplant from an unrelated donor survived for 5 1/2 years. Following the transplantation, the patient withstood several serious insults, including barbiturate intoxication and a myocardial infarcion. He was losing renal function during the sixth year after the transplantation and was considered for a second graft, but, unfortunately, he died of a second myocardial infarction.
