Indications for Plasma Exchange: Renal Diseases

1983
AbstractExperience with a treatment regimen of intensive plasma exchange, cytotoxic drugs, and steroids in the management of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis has allowed us to define the indications for the use of plasma exchange in this form of renal disease. In patients with auto-antibody mediated renal disease we believe that plasma exchange is indicated for those patients who still have some residual renal function at the time of presentation (if the serum creatinine is 500 μmol/l but who have not yet progressed to oligoanuria.
