Polyurethane cationomer films as ecological membranes for building industry

2019
Abstract A successful synthesis of waterborne polyurethane cationomers modified by hydrotalcite nanoparticles (HT) (0–2 wt %) was accomplished and thin films were formed. Analysis of IR and NMR spectra confirmed the structure of the obtained polyurethane cationomers, and incorporation of HT modifier into the polymer structure. Phase structures of the obtained films were determined on the basis of WAXD diffractograms, SEM imaging and EDX spectra. The activation energy of the glass transition process was calculated based on multi-frequency TOPEM DSC data. The modification with HT had positive effect on the hydrophobic and thermal properties of the obtained films, which is especially valuable for applications in the building industry.
