2P-126 : Development of cross-linkable dimeric triarylmethine derivatives with improved thermal and solvent stability for color filters

2019
Recently, color filters have become essential in various electronic devices. The color filter technology used in image sensors requires finer pixel sizes and high contrast ratios to achieve improved real images. Due to low pigment solubility, it is difficult to produce smaller particles, and particle aggregation causes light scattering. In order to resolve these problems, dye-based color filters have been studied. In this study, we designed and synthesized novel blue dyes for color filters based on dimeric triarylmethine derivatives bearing methacrylatecrosslinkable groups with an acrylic polymer resin. The synthesized triarylmethine derivatives were studied to determine their thermal and solvent stability, and their potential to be used as color filter materials was evaluated. We found that the cross-linkable dimeric triarylmethine derivative could greatly improve thermal and solvent stability.
