Doubly Curved Reflector Antenna Design Trade-Offs for a Hexagonal Lattice of Beams

2021
In this paper, a doubly curved reflector antenna fed by a stack of linear arrays is discussed. The design procedure to generate a hexagonal lattice of beams leads to higher spillover losses, resulting in lower aperture efficiency. The impact of oversizing the reflector to reduce spill-over losses is investigated with numerical results reported in Ka-band.
