Seismic attribute analysis for gas content and structural interpretation in the Karamursel Basin, gulf of Izmit

2013
The gulf of Izmit is located at the eastern Marmara Sea and has an east-west elongated rectangular shape with about 60 km length in east-west direction and 2-10 km width in north-south direction (Figure 1). The gulf is comprised of three basins, from west to east, western (Darica), central (Karamursel), and eastern (Izmit) basins. The central basin is connected to the other basins by two shallow sills located north of the Hersek peninsula and north of Golcuk at about 55 and 38 m water depths, respectively. The centrally located Karamursel basin constitutes the deepest part of the Gulf with a maximum depth of about 205 m.
