Canine pedal dermatitis due to percutaneous Uncinaria stenocephala infection

Abstract Extract Skin lesions in dogs, due to the percutaneous migration of hookworm larvae, have been produced experimentally on several occasions (Sarles, 1929; Gibbs, 1958; Lewert and Lee, 1954). It appears, however, that the natural occurrence of such lesions has not been recorded often. Christensen and Roth (1949) report an itching and dermatitis of dogs resulting from repeated exposure to hookworm larvae, and Soulsby (1965) points out that, while lesions occur mainly in the interdigital skin fold, they may extend up the limbs in severe cases.
