Preparation of Anionic Waterborne Epoxy Resin Emulsion and its Application for Oil Filter Paper

2013
An anionic waterborne epoxy resin emulsion was synthesized based on bisphenol-A novolac epoxy resin(NEP).The modification agents used are benzoic acid(BA) and maleic anhydride(MA).The anion waterborne bisphenol-A novolac epoxy resin(WNEP) emulsion was prepared by phase inversion emulsification technique, and was applied to treat the oil filter paper as impregnating agent. The chemical structure and surface chemical composition of the WNEP were characterized respectively by infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The granularity analyzer and transmission electron microscope(TEM) were used to examine the emulsion particle dispersion and microscopic properties of WNEP emulsion. The thermal degradation of WNEP with different ring-opening ratios and filter papers impregnated by them were studied by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).The contact angle of impregnated filter paper surface and water was measured by static contact angle test.It was observed that the WNEP with 35% ring-opening ratio shows good results, and it could significantly improve the thermal stability and water resistance of the impregnated oil filter paper.
