Male-to-Female Breast Augmentation and Body Contouring

Gender confirmation surgery continues to be recognized as one of the optimal treatments for patients with gender dysphoria. As such, surgeons and medical providers taking care of this patient population should be aware of commonly performed procedures. The purpose of this chapter is to discuss both breast augmentation and body contouring for transgender women. While most of our current techniques are based on studies from the esthetic surgery literature, this patient population requires special consideration. It is critical to understand the differences in male and female form not only to create a surgical plan, but also to underscore the challenges and limitations of these procedures.
