Comparative spectral studies of pigmented organs and tissues of two cladocera species

1986
Abstract 1. 1. The microspectrophotometric technique was applied for in vivo investigation of Cladocera pigmented organs and tissues. 2. 2. It was shown that the visible coloration of the Cladocera tissues and organs results from combination of absorption bands of myoglobin, carotenoids and carotene-protein with various intensities. 3. 3. The absorption spectra of Cladocera egg carotene-protein, ovoverdin, in vivo contain a single absorption band with the maximum wavelength of about 650 nm.
