Elevated Levels of Anti-Malignin Antibody are Quantitatively Related to Longer Survival in Cancer Patients

1984
Summary In a blind study of 354 individuals by Dungan and Powers, Anti-Malignin antibody levels distinguished between active cancer and terminal cancer at p Using the life table method, actuarial survival was calculated in the above two independent series totalling 511 patients with a broad range of types of cancer studied at different times (1976-80; 1980-82) who had had blind serum Anti-Malignin antibody determinations performed in two independent laboratories. A statistically significant consistent quantitative relationship was observed between the concentration of Anti-Malignin antibody and survival. At the extremes of antibody concentration, among patients with less than 25 micrograms/ml there were no survivors at 13 months, whereas of those with antibody greater than 500 micrograms/ml there were 65% survivors at 20 months.
