The invention discloses a drive system for a vehicle, comprising a Traktionsakkumulator; an electric machine which feeds electric charge in the Traktionsakkumulator during deceleration of the vehicle; a first Bordnetzakkumulator whose energy density is lower than the energy density of Traktionsakkumulators; a second Bordnetzakkumulator having a higher energy density than the first Bordnetzakkumulator; a first DC-DC converter which converts the high voltage of the Traktionsakkumulators in the vehicle electrical system voltage and couples the Traktionsakkumulator with the on-board network; a second DC-DC converter which is connected between the electrical system and the second Bordnetzakkumulator; and a controller that is adapted - to control the first DC-DC converter so that during deceleration of the vehicle, the electric machine charges the largely Traktionsakkumulator and second Bordnetzakkumulator; and - to control the second DC-DC converter so that to provide, in a case in which the electric machine driving the vehicle, the second Bordnetzakkumulator energy of the electric machine and / or the first Bordnetzakkumulator and / or the on-board network.
