Influence of sowing time and row direction on the growth and yield of winter maize

(...) The maize sown on October 21 was early in emergence, tasseling, silking and maturity than that sown on November 11 and December 1. With in 30 days of its sowing, the October 21 sown crop produced the leaves number, plant height and dry matter comparable to that of 60 to 75 days old plants of the latter sowings. The December 1 sown crops yielded the maximum grain yield (7.1 t/ha) followed by the November 11 and October 21 sowings. (...)
