The effect of salts of alkali metals on electronic absorption spectra of pyridine in aqueous solutions

UV absorption spectra of pyridine in aqueous solutions containing salts (LiCl, NaCI, and KCl) were studied. It was found that the interaction of pyridine molecules with the metal ions increases in the series Li + , Na + , and K + . Based on the spectral data obtained, the constants of acid-base equilibria of pyridine with the metal ions were calculated.
