1H and 31P endor studies on powdered samples of magnetically dilute copper(II) O,O'-disubstituted dithiophosphate complexes

1986
Abstract Studies by ENDOR on bis(O,O'-disubsdtuted dithiophosphato)copper(II) complexes with methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, o -cresyl and thymil remote ligand substituents in magnetically diluted powdered samples as well as in solid toluene solutions are reported. The true values of 1 H and 31 P superhyperfine splittings as well as the polar angle θ( g ∥ , r Cu-H ) ≈ 40° are estimated. It is found that: (a) 31 P has sp 2 d, p z electronic configuration with the S-P-S angle m the range 102–103° for all samples studied; (b) taking into account the multicenter interactions (Cu-H and S-H) the distance r Cu-H is calculated to be 4.7 A for the methyl derivative. These values are in perfect accord with the corresponding angles and distances of the host lattices found by X-ray analysis.
