Controll study of clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbs on treatment of knee osteoarthritis

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with TCM treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee by case-control.Methods: 50 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into two groups,of which 25 patients were treated with acupuncture and Chinese Herbs.The other 25 patients of knee osteoarthritis,the control group,were treated with moxibustion and Chinese Herbs.Two groups were evaluated for clinical efficacy after the required period of treatment.Results: Refered to Lequesne scores and Shahariarre scores,the treatment group scores were(3.71±1.81) points,excellent in 17 cases,good in 4 cases,general 3 cases,ineffective in 1 case,and the effective rate was 96.0%.The control group scores were(4.12±1.32) points,excellent in 9 cases,good in 7 cases,general 6 cases,ineffective in 3 cases,and the effective rate was 88.0%.By statistical software analysis,the treatment group efficacy are better than the control group(P0.05).Conclusions: Compared with the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with moxibustion and Chinese medicine,the therpy of acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine,in alleviating the pain and restore knee function,has a greater advantage.
