Introduction: The man as part of the organization has great relevance, because through the mobilization of the resources that’s owns the institution, generates competitive advantages. Objective: To determine the general elements to be taken into account for the elaboration of proficiency profiles for the directors of the faculties at the Agrarian University of Havana (UNAH). Methods: A survey was conducted to the managers of the teaching areas to know about the operation of human capital management (HCG) in the institution. The transformations derived from the agreements of the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution in the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) were considered. Results: Results: All deans state that they have knowledge about the process of Human Capital Management, of which 57% have a high level of knowledge, while 43% have an average level. 71% stated that they obtained knowledge through courses, while 29% through texts. The profiles of labor competencies were proposed for the managers of the teaching areas. Conclusions: The diagnosis made evidenced the main shortcomings of the Human Capital Integrated Management System (SGICH) and specifically in the subsystem of Labor Competencies.
