Investigation of the reactivity of oligomers with peroxide end groups in radical reactions

1977
A bifunctional oligomer with peroxide end groups has been obtained by ozonizing end acrylate groups of an oligomer. The kinetic features of the ozonization process have been studied and the rate constants for the reaction have been determined. The oligomer synthesized has been chatacterized with respect to molecular mass, density and refractive index. Its structure has been confirmed from its IR spectra, by calculation of the molecular refraction and from the concentration of active oxygen. The kinetic parameters for the decomposition of the peroxide groups on the oligomer have been determined and it has been established that the process obeys a first order equation. The decomposition products have been fractionated and identified. On the basis of the data obtained, a scheme is put forward for the decomposition of the peroxide groups on the oligomer. It has been shown to be possible to use such oligomeric systems as initiators for radical processes and the kinetic laws have been established.
