Compositive characterization of melamine‐formaldehyde condensates by NMR spectroscopy

A method of compositive characterization of Melamine-Formaldehyde (MF) condensates by combining NMR spectroscopy and chemical analysis has been developed. Some Melamine-Formaldehyde derivatives were prepared (dimethylol melamine, trimethylol melamine, hexamethylol melamine) to interpret the NMR spectra of MF condensates. The MF condensates (solid or lyophilized samples) were examinated in dimethylsulfoxide d6/CaCl2 solvent phase without any chemical pretreatments. By this method it is possible to determine the content of methylol, methylene and oxymethylene formaldehyde and of nonsubstituted, monosubsituted and disubstituted amino groups. Es wird eine auf NMR-Spektroskopie und chemischer Analyse beruhende Charakterisierungsmethode fur Melamin-Formaldehyd-Harze (MF) beschrieben. Um die Interpretation der NMR-Spektren der MF-Harze zu ermoglichen, wurden einige Standardprodukte (Dimethylolmelamin, Trimethylolmelamin und Hexamethylolmelamin) synthetisiert. Die Aufnahme der NMR-Spektren erfolgte ohne vorhergehende chemische Behandlung in Dimethylsulfoxid-d6/CaCl2 Losung. Die vorgeschlagene Methode ermoglicht die Bestimmung von Methylol-, Methylen- und Oxymethylengruppen und von unsubstituierten sowie mono- und disubstituierten Aminogruppen.
