A 24 GHz MIMO PMCW Automotive Radar with Doppler Compensation

2021
In this paper, a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) phase-modulated continuous wave (PMCW) radar system is modeled and analyzed. The operating frequency at 24 GHz band with 1 GHz bandwidth is selected for Medium Range Radar (MRR) scenarios. Basic PMCW principles are reviewed. Key parameters of the proposed RF system and signal processing chain are verified in MATLAB. For high-speed target detections, an extra doppler compensation procedure is required to boost the accuracy of angle processing. Final simulation results of the target distance, velocity and direction of angle are shown.
