ANALISIS KESIAPAN PERAWAT DALAM MELAKUKAN TINDAKAN BANTUAN HIDUP DASAR

One of the cardiovascular disease that most often causes death is cardiac arrest. The incidence of cardiac arrest in Indonesia ranges from 10 out of 100,000 normal people were under 35 years of age and annually reaches around 300,000-350,000 incidents. The first aid that can be done in cardiac arrest patients were given by using Basic Life Support (BLS). The results of preliminary studies and journal searches was found that many nurses are not ready to perform BLS. The purpose of this study was to analyze the readiness of nurses in performing BLS. The method of this research used quantitative with a cross-sectional approach taken by using a questionnaire on the readiness of nurses to perform BLS. This research was conducted on 389 nurses in Palembang City. The results of this study showed that most respondents had a good level of readiness, had training, had experience, and good knowledge. Based on the results of the chi-square statistical test, it was found that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and readiness with p-value 0.003, a significant relationship between training and readiness with p-value 0.003, and a significant relationship between experience and readiness with p-value 0.003. This research showed that have the more knowledge, have had attended training, and have BLS experience, it could be enhanced one's readiness in performing BLS. Therefore, good training, experience, and knowledge are needed to have good readiness to do BLS.
