Detection of Curcumin using a Simple and Sensitive Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP) Embedded Graphite Electrode Based Electrochemical Sensor

2020
In this paper, polyacrylic acid based molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized for detection of curcumin. The polymer materials were prepared by polymerization process using curcumin (CUR) as the template molecule and acrylic acid (AA) as a monomer. The electrochemical behavior of curcumin was investigated using three electrode system in the presence of ammonium acetate buffer solution with pH value of 5.5. The polymer materials were characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). The effect of scan rate variations was examined and the principal component analysis (PCA) was implemented for qualitative analysis of five different samples. The separability index (SI) was observed 23.29 with effective data clustering. This method can be also applied effectively for similar applications.
