Application of Differential Evolution for Maximizing the Loadability Limit of Transmission System During Contingency
2016
This paper deals with the improvement of transmission system loadability during single contingency by optimal location and settings of multitype flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices such as thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) and static var compensator (SVC). Contingency severity index (CSI) and fast voltage sensitivity index (FVSI) are used for identifying the optimal location of FACTS devices. To enhance the socio-economical benefits, the solution to the problem is optimized using differential evolution (DE) technique thereby minimizing the installation cost (IC) of FACTS devices and severity of overloading (SOL).
