Prompt and delayed electro- and photofission of243Am nuclei in the energy region 450–950 MeV

1988
Abstract Cross sections of the reactions 243 Am(e, F) and 243 Am(e, n) 242mf Am have been measured using linac-2 GeV of the Kharkov Institute for Physical Technology. The incident electron energies were in a range of 450–950 MeV. The data obtained are discussed in the framework of the virtual photon method. It is shown that the contribution from the giant dipole resonance to the prompt electrofission cross section amounts to a fraction of about 50% of the total σ eF cross section in this energy region, and to a fraction of about 85% if the fission isomer(σ en mf cross section is produced. Simultaneously the yields of the 243 Am(ψ,F) and 243 Am(ψ,n) 242mf Am have been measured and cross sections for these reactions were evaluated.
