The effect of correspondence education in knowledge and attitudes promotion of safety skills and first aid among Iranian urban population

Background & Objective: Basic first-aid skills can be useful in treating injuries that commonly result from disasters. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of correspondence education in knowledge, attitudes and practices promotion of safety skills, first aid and energy efficiency among Iranian urban population. Materials & Methods: This was an interventional study was on the population of over 15 years Mazandaran state. The short structure questionnaires for pre and post test have been posted to 30,000 urban families with multi stage random sampling on postal code. These questionnaires have this ability to resend without charge. Results: 605(1.2%) of the 30.000 eligible person completed and send the questionnaires mean age of the participants was 32.99±14.07 years and between the 15 to 65 years. The results indicate that most respondents had an average to fairly good knowledge about the first aid and safety skills on the pretest stage. So the range of percentage of correct answers between the participants 46.6 to 97 percent was calculated, but in stages to test the range 48.1 to 97.9 percent was promoted. (61.7%) of 374 participants were mentioned that the most of their information have been from radio and television and newspapers. Conclusion: Public education could help to increase the knowledge, attitudes and practice toward first aid skills. However; now this training more than anything, needs to learning and development in all of society.
