2020
The teaching of botany is often still worked in a traditional way, with difficulties in assimilating and understanding the subjects. One cause today is the lack of interest of students, as well as the so-called "botanical blindness". This paper aims to analyze the teaching of botany in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) classes of two public schools in Soure, Marajo Island, Para, as well as the students' perceptions of the main pedagogical practices that educators use in their classes. The study was conducted with 29 students and two teachers, where respondents answered questionnaires that revealed the citation of various teaching methodologies by the teachers. However, it makes use of the textbook in most of its classes and students find it difficult to understand the contents of botany by the complexity of terms and how the subject is taught, with little or no contextualization. Therefore, it was noticed that both teachers and students have difficulties, teachers in seeking alternatives to make teaching more attractive in relation to botany and, and students in understanding the importance of the theme for everyday and school life. And in the pursuit of quality education, it is necessary to develop and propose new methodologies, as well as invest in a better structure and quality of work for all professionals involved in education.
