SCMOS: Series-Connected Memristor-only Stateful Logic

2020
Memristor based stateful logic is an attractive logic in memory solution to reduce data movement between the memory and the processing units. However, most proposed stateful logic gates require the functional memristors in the same row/column of crossbar array, which may limit the flexibility in spatial dimension. In this brief, a series-connected memristor- only stateful (SCMOS) logic based on the sneak-path property is presented as special subset of MAGIC. More than True and FALSE function, the primitive circuit of SCMOS logic could achieve NAND, OR and two types AND functions. And a 2T1R architecture is proposed to be used to help the adaptation of SCMOS logic to the crossbar array. The working principle and validity of the logic design are demonstrated with SPICE simulation.
