Internet of Things for smart grid applications

2021
Abstract In today's world, a huge range of devices are interconnected with wireless technologies from the dawn of the state-of-the-art technology of the Internet of Things (IoT). The smart grid is part of the IoT framework and can be used to remotely monitor and manage nearly everything: lighting, traffic signals, road warnings, etc. Problems can be solved using present technology and some human intelligence that in turn reflects the concept of the smart grid, which is used to reduce power loss and certain threats and may result in saving one's life. This chapter shall present the assorted approaches for smart electric grids with sensors and cloud IoT that give precise or collective information on the line of fault, which in turn reduces losses and increases the adequacy of the system.
