Effect of fish meal replacement by protein sources on the extruded and pressed diet of European sea bass juvenile (Dicentrarchus labrax).

2010
It is worth noting that in Morocco, the totality of fish food is imported under temporary admission and that aquaculture farms are required to clear justification for the export of their products. This fact constitutes a major constraint to the development of the aquaculture. The development of the local manufacturing or production of fish food is therefore a priority to be taken into account to address this crisis situation. Two diets (Extruded and pressed) formulated from locally available ingredients were tested and were compared with the imported commercial diet. The main objective was to define the effect of fish meal replacement by protein sources on the extruded and pressed diet as well as on the performances of growth and feed conversion ratio (FCR) in the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). Fishes were distributed at the rate of 20 individuals by tank with an initial average weight of 85 g. The performances of growth and FCR were followed over a period of 172 days. The best performance was obtained with the local extruded diet with an earning in weight of 170.81 g and a FCR of 1.39. On the other hand the commercial diet, taken as witness and having a report P/E of 88.63 mg/Kcal generated 164.51 g as earning in weight and an FCR of 1.49. The worst performances were realized with the local pressed diet which has a report P/E of 92.67 mg/Kcal with a earning in weight of 77.06 g and an FCR of 3.46.
