Radioembolisation(Yttrium-90 microspheres)for liver malignancies

2011
Radioembolisation using radioactive yttrium-90-labeled microspheres is gaining a stronger foothold in the management of primary and metastatic liver cancers. The expanding literature reveals encouraging results in both retrospective and prospective reports as demonstrated by low toxicities and significant response rates. Depending on an accurate patient selection, this treatment modality has extended the time to liver progression and increased overall patient survival for liver metastases from pre-treated colorectal cancer and unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.
