The Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Coaching Styles in student teams selected to compete in 4 Islamic Azad University

The purpose of the present research is to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and coaching styles in student teams selected to compete in 4 Islamic Azad University in Iran. The population of the research consists of all the coaches and students who are participating in the 2012 student teams selected to compete in 4 Islamic Azad University. The sample of the research included 60 coaches (30 men and 30 women) and 120 students who were randomly selected from the population. After data collection and to display the frequency distribution, descriptive analysis of the findings was done in the form of frequency distribution tables and figures, and the inferential analysis of the findings and hypothesis testing is provided in the second section. Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test and Anova test were applied to examine the relationship between research variables. All the calculations were done in EXCEL and SPSS 18 software. The findings showed that there is a significant difference between the women coaches and men coaches in emotional intelligence. Further, a significant positive relationship was observed between emotional intelligence and instruction-training coaching style and social support coaching style and feedback coaching style. On the other hand, the athletes were more satisfied with the instruction-training, social support and feedback styles of coaching.
