Memory plays a fundamental role in the construction of subjectivity, preser­ving what, in some way, was marked in the trajectory of life. Consequently, the spaces in which the subject faces experiences become spaces of memory, since, in them, there are records of impressions, and being capable of absorbing accumulated experiences. Thus, the work in question proposes to analyze in the work Paisagem com mulher e mar ao fundo, de Teolinda Gersao (1982), the relationship that the protagonist establishes with space and landscape, and the meanings gained in her memories. The landscape announced in the title translates the imagistic and acoustic tone that surrounds the central scene of the narrative, in a symbiotic relationship of presence/absence. The protagonist’s memories turn to the reference spaces, full with split images, which reposition the space of the house and the landscape of the village and the sea, highlighted by the desire to relocate family scenes.
