Analysis and Prediction of Crime Using Data Mining

Data mining can be used to solve crime detection problems. Crimes are a social nuisance and cost our society in several ways. The data stored in files can be easily misplaced or interpreted. It is important that the data related to crime remains consistent and is visible to only authorized users. It is highly imperative to generate patterns and trends of crimes according to regions and trends. In this project, we propose a system that will take input of a crime, with its location, type and time. Based on this data the system will generate patterns and trends of the areas which are crime prone. To detect suspects, the system will process records through various components such as geographic location, social network analysis, crime type, year and gender. We can also create awareness campaigns in crime prone areas. Based on the patterns generated the police can use various strategies to reduce crime. The system uses various data mining techniques to generate trends and patterns and handle complex data. This system can be used by various military and air forces in future. The system also uses a fitted value algorithm which predicts the future crime rates for the area which is selected.
