El cabildo de la catedral de Pamplona y su actividad asistencial en la Baja Edad Media (siglo XIV)

espanolLa actividad caritativa y asistencial esta fuertemente arraigada en cualquier institucion canonial en la Edad Media. En el caso de la catedral de Pamplona, la existencia de un hospital y albergueria bajo la advocacion de san Miguel esta documentada desde el siglo xii, alli se acogian peregrinos, pobres y enfermos que quedaban bajo la responsabilidad del canonigo hospitalero, una de las dignidades del cabildo. Por otro lado, el cuidado y atencion de estos desvalidos parece estar encomendados a mujeres, «duenas» o sororas. En definitiva, estamos ante una evidencia mas, tanto de la proyeccion social del clero capitular, a traves de esta red hospitalaria, como de la vida espiritual de las mujeres en la Baja Edad Media. Bestalde, badirudi emakumeei, «etxandreei» edo serorei zegokiela babesgabe horiek zaindu eta artatzea. Hitz batean, beste ebidentzia bat dugu, bai klero kapitularrak ospitale sare horren bidez gizartean zuen eraginarena, bai Behe Erdi Aroko emakumeen bizitza espiritualarena. EnglishThe charitable and welfare activity is strongly rooted in any canonical institution in the Middle Ages. In the Catedral of Pamplona, the existence of a hospital and a shelter under the patronage of Saint Michael has been documented since the 12th century. In this hospital, there were pilgrims, as well as poor and sick people, who remained under the responsibility of the hospitable canon. On the other hand, the care and attention of these underprivileged people seem to be entrusted to women, «owners» or «sororas». In short, we are facing more evidence of the social projection of the capitular clergy, through this hospital network, as well as the spiritual life of women in the late Middle Ages.
