Avirilized patient withcongenital hemihypertrophy

Summary: An18year oldwomanwith congenital hemihypertrophy ofherleft side, presented with the rapid onset ofvirilism, hypertension andacushingoid appearance. Acomputed tomographic examination revealed adrenal andhepatic masses. Adrenocortical carcinoma wasconfirmed bysurgical pathology. Hemihypertrophy islinked toavariety ofbenign andmalignant disorders that usually appear during childhood. These disorders include adrenocortical carcinoma andhepatoblastoma. Webring this case to clinical attention toincrease awareness that adult patients with congenital hemihypertrophy arestill ata significant risk ofdeveloping neoplasms.
