A preliminary study on morpho-anatomical characters and secondary metabolites of agave mezcalero (Agave potatorum)

Agave potatorum possesses typical characteristics of Agave spp. Thick waxy coating on the leaf surface and deeply sunken stomata indicate xerophytic adaptation. The presence of alkaloids, saponins and steroids indicates its potential medicinal values. The species can easily be propagated by seeds.
