Study on the Effectiveness of Microwave Accelerated Metal Corrosion Rate

2016
To study the effectiveness of microwave heating to accelerate the rate of corrosion of the metal in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods- Manual of Tests and Criteria of chemicals on the basis of metal corrosion detection method,in order to replace the traditional means of microwave radiation electrically heated water bath, corrosion behavior of 20#carbon steel and 7075-T6 aluminum in dilute hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid solutions were studied by weight loss measurement using microwave heating and conventional water bath heating respectively. The corrosive medium concentration, stirring speed and microwave power on the influence of corrosion rate was tested. The test results showed that when the concentration of H+ in the acid medium was 0. 06mol /L,the stirring rate was 80r /min and the microwave power was 300 W,the accelerated corrosion effect was the best. The microwave method of weight loss rate and pH value under optimum conditions were higher than the water bath method after 40 h,and microwave radiation has the obvious effect of accelerated corrosion.
