An inducer of neurogenesis for use in the treatment or prevention of spinal cord injury, wherein the inducer of neurogenesis contains a derivative alkylether benzothiophene represented by the general formula: [wherein R1 and R2, which they are identical or different, represent one or more groups selected from a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, arylthio, alkenyl, alkenyloxy, amino, alkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl, carbamoyl or optionally substituted heterocyclic, amino, hydroxyl or carboxyl optionally protected, a nitro group and an oxo group; R3 represents an optionally substituted alkylamino group or an amino or hydroxyl group optionally protected; m and n, which are identical or different, represent an integer from 1 to 6], or a salt thereof.
